July is here an that means one thing........ THE JULY TENNIS NEWSLETTER!
Summer tennis is in full swing and the weather has been "perfect". Remember that I don't favor the cold so I like these temps. Enough about the weather though!
2010 LADIES MINI WIMBLEDON!
Special thanks to everyone who made our Ladies Mini-Wimbledon Mixer a great success! Therina and Jen Gustafson did a great job with the goody bags, Laura and her grille staff gave us great food an mimosas and special thanks go to our British Pub Manager Andy Hoffman and his second in command, David Morgan for their tireless effort serving refreshments to all involved.
Also, more special thanks goes out to NOLA Lending, The Tennis Shop of Mandeville and Francos OSPA for their support of this annual event. It was hot but all of our ladies battled it out for the top prizes in each division. When scores were totaled the winners were announced as follows.
For the C Division 2nd place was Johnell Grayson & Jen Gustafson, 1st place Kim Pierce and Carla Long. B Division 2nd place Suzanne Allison & Cindy Kemp, 1st place Kim Robertson & Patty Davie and A Division 2nd place Melissa Vidal & Nicole Schembre, 1st place Jenn Thompson & Kelly Orgeron.
Thank you to everyone who participated - we will do it again next year!
FRANCO'S MENS 2.5 TEAM GOING TO SECTIONALS!
Congratulations to our Franco's Men's 2.5 Team who earned the wildcard and qualified to go to Sectionals in Birmingham at the end of this month. Team members are "Killer" Kirk Wesson, "Mad Dog" Mike Eggers, Blake "The Beast" Kennedy, Joe "The Dominator" Roy, Ryan "The Cobra" Fanguy, Mark "Dr Death" Grayson, Hud "The Rock" Braud and Todd "The Terror" Weidie.
Way to go Fellas! We are very proud of you! Take it all the way to Nationals!
While we are on the subject of Sectionals, both Therina and John are going with their teams to sectionals also! You 2 ROCK!
JULY POTLUCK MIXER - SATURDAY, JULY 17TH 6 - 9PM!
Our next mixer is set for Saturday, July 17th starting at 6pm. On this one you are encouraged to bring the main dish, appetizer or dessert of your choice and Franco's will provide the beer and some extra food too! If you bring food the cost of the mixer is $10, if you just bring yourself the cost is $20. Sign up at the tennis desk and please put down what you will bring foodwise.
It helps us to make sure we have all of our food bases covered. Don't wait to sign up! Spaces are LIMITED!

Way to go all of our Francos Junior players who qualified for Southerns! Girls 18s Rachel Howie and Hayley Everett, girls 16s Catherine Ragon and Brenna Keller, girls 14s Caroline Brinson, girls 10s Taylor Garcia and Kennedi Carter and girls 10s Quickstart Megan Butler!
Boys 16s Jeffrey Brown and Austin Essay, boys 14s Greg Suhor, boys 12s Hayden Loeb, Cody Orgeron and Princeton Carter, boys 10s Quickstart Raleigh "Rolo" Martin.

FALL JUNIOR PROGRAMS WILL START SOON!
Hard to believe that the 1st of August will start school so early, but that means that our Fall Junior program will get underway early also. We will start back the week of August 9th. See the website for all the program details and times. Info will be posted around the club or you can stop by the tennis desk to get the information. Call or come by and we will help you get your child in the correct group for their age and skill. The Summer has been awesome for our kids and we want to keep everyone playing all year long!
FRANCOS SUMMER SUN JUNIOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT!
Coming the weekend of July 23 - 25, 2010. This is a Louisiana LEVEL 5 USTA tournament and will have kids from all over the state coming to play. It wil be great so come out and watch. Play will start on Friday afternoon and go thru sometime Sunday!
THURSDAY MENS NITE ON VACATION UNTIL FALL!
Due to the heat and business of our fellas, we are putting mens nite on vacation until cooler temps prevail in the fall!
NEW PRINCE RACQUETS, STRINGS AND GRIPS HAVE ARRIVED!
We have just received our NEW PRINCE merchandise and it is very exciting. I am really impressed with their strings and grips, especially their wide variety of polyester strings. I believe you all will love what their wide variety of string types can do to revitalize your racquet. Let us regrip or restring your racquet for fall. Try out a new demo! 3 NEW frames are coming out this month! We will have a large Prince Demo event in August - more details later! Remember that we will match any advertised price on Prince racquets! We want to take good care of our people!
