Because there was such a short time between the time Pete was diagnosed with MDS, a form of leukemia, and his death, he and his children had very little time to prepare for his leaving. Pete had no time to make preparations, funding or otherwise, for his children and their futures. Pete asked that we all take good care of his children, knowing that we would always do what is best for them. This Tennis Tournament is the one chance we have to let people know how much we cared about Pete, and about Pete's Challenge. We propose a beautiful legacy left for Pete's children. Every dollar raised through this tournament will go towards Pete's three children's college education.

It is that time of the year again for the 12th Annual Rich Mauti Cancer Fund Tennis Classic, to be held at Franco's, DATE TBA. The Rich Mauti Tennis Classic was formed as a fund raiser for the Rich Mauti Cancer Fund.
Formed in 1981, The Rich Mauti Cancer Fund, is a voluntary, non-profit organization designed to raise money for cancer research, education and screenings, with all funds to be utilized in the State of Louisiana; the state, by the way, with the highest incident rate in the nation for several major types of cancer. This was created to assure that all funds raised would remain locally with no administrative costs.
The ultimate goal of the organization is to build a cancer treatment and alternative or complementary research facility to give the people of Louisiana the most updated treatment care available.
The Rich Mauti Tennis Classic received the certificate of merit for 2006 from the Louisiana Tennis Association as one of the best charity tournaments in the state. Each year the tournament gets bigger and better with other 250 players from all over the state participating last year. The tournament is open to members and non-members of Franco's, and to all levels of play. The divisions range from 5.5 through 8.5 and include an open division.
During the event meals are provided for the participants. Dinner is provided Thursday and Friday with breakfast and lunch provided Saturday and Sunday.
Franco's is honored to host this great charity event again in 2008. For more information about the tournament or to sign up, please contact the Tennis Desk at 985.792.0260. For more information about The Rich Mauti Cancer Fund, please visit www.richmauticancerfund.com. We look forward to seeing everybody on the court!
