This year we "timed" a few participants in order for them keep track and attempt to beat their time year after year. Runner's Choice was on hand with volunteers. Red Beans and Rice along with Q50 Coffee was enjoyed by all at the end. Pictures and article will be up on this site by next week! 2010 Ice Man finishers: Thomas Boudreaux (28 min, 13 sec), Ryan Blake (28 min, 53 sec), Christian Lebreton (29 min, 10 sec), Ron Piret (30 min, 1 sec), Karl Cavaretta, David Coffey, Jonathan Cooper, Blake Cretin, Steve Dubuc, Scott Durman, Brandon Guerra, Paul Jones, Dan King, Tony LeMon, James and Marcus Leydecker, Dan Martin, Warren Montgomery, Amanda Pace, David Richardson, Jody Richardson, Jerry Rivera, James Rozycki, Beau Spath, Pawel Szumski, Don Trexler, Morten Wiese, Greg Williams, Michael Zachman, Trevor Colbert and Ron Franco. The 9th Annual Dip & Dash will be held Saturday, January 1st, 2011- start training now! This was not a race but a challenging survival event including a 4 mile run and approximately 70 yard "ice" swim. History of event: In 1988 a small group of athletes embarked on a New Years Day run only to be thwarted by the Madisonville bridge mechanical malfunction. Frustration and a cold northern wind forced a call to action. The group swam the Tchefuncte River, fighting hypothermia and refusing to be impreded by any obstacle, even 49 degrees water. Hence, the Ice Man Dip & Dash was born. $30 registration. All proceeds will benefit Franco's United Charities Fund and the Donnie Jarrell Fund.
