Adult Classes & Clinics

NEW Glide Swimming Clinic Series

For adults 18 years old or older

Basic Glide Clinic is for people who would like to fine-tune their freestyle stroke and eventually swim faster and more efficiently. Swimmers will learn to swim with less effort and with a longer glide. Swimmers do not need to be trained swimmers to participate, but they should be able to swim a length of the pool without stopping. Knowing how to breathe to the side is not necessary, but it helps. This clinic is perfect for
1) triathletes who want to improve their swimming performance and conserve energy so they have enough left for their bike and run;
2) novice swimmers who just didn't get it when learning how to swim the first time;
3) anyone who wants a good mindful workout- this clinic is good for the body and the brain;
4) anyone who wants to get in shape while working on swimming form.

The instructor teaches a series of progressive swimming drills designed to improve one's posture, line, and balance in the water. Using the laws of physics and hydrodynamics, swimmers learn to use weight shifts initiated from their core and gravity initiated from their arms to propel themselves forward.

The prerequisite is that swimmers are able to swim one length of the pool without stopping. Swimmers must be 18 years old or older.

Cost: $140 members; $175 non-members.

PERFORMANCE VIDEO GLIDE

This clinic is designed for athletes who are interested in swimming competively whether for triathlons or for U.S. Masters Swimming but are continually frustrated by their lack of progress in the water. This clinic will help athletes break the cycle of frustration and will teach them how to improve continually so that their next competition will be better, stronger, and faster.

Videos of the athletes will be taken at the beginning, middle, and end of the clinic so that athletes can learn their areas for improvement, practice better swimming, and swim more efficiently.

Before enrolling in the class, athletes should already be able to swim two lengths of the pool without stopping and should already be able to breathe by rolling their heads to the side rather than lifting their heads. Athletes should be in good physical condition.
